Frequently Asked Questions
It is common to have questions about therapy, especially if it is your first time!
-
What can I expect in therapy?Therapy is unique for everyone! The first time we meet, I will ask several questions to get to know you better and we can identify your treatment goals. Sometimes sessions are structured and other times it is an open space for you to discuss whatever you choose.
-
How do I know if therapy is right for me?Ideally, you will leave therapy feeling validated, safe, and hopeful. Therapists offer unbiased approaches often unlike what friends or family provide. Your therapist is a neutral person to guide, support, and challenge you as you grow and heal.
-
How long will I need to be in therapy? This is a great question and it is different for everyone. Ideally, you will be in therapy until you reach your goals and are feeling better! Some people discontinue altogether once goals are met, while others prefer a check-in every few months. We will work around whatever is most comfortable for you.
-
How long do sessions last? The first session usually lasts 50-60 minutes. All subsequent sessions are 50 minutes total.
-
How often do we meet? This can vary from person to person. Most people meet biweekly, although some prefer weekly or monthly. Frequency can also change throughout your treatment. You may want to meet less often once you are feeling better. Other times if you feel the need for an additional session, we can try to make that work!
-
What hours are you available to see clients?I work Mondays 9am-4pm, Tuesdays 11am-5pm, Wednesdays 9am-5pm, and Thursdays 9am-4pm. I do not work on Fridays or weekends. You may reach out via e-mail between sessions. I may not reply right away, but will be sure to respond as soon as I am able.
-
Do you offer sessions online?Yes! I offer sessions both in-person and online.
-
How do I login for my virtual session? You can access your virtual session by going to your client portal. Links are available on the top right corner of the webpage as well as in your therapist's email signature. If you are having trouble, reach out to your therapist directly.
-
How can I prepare for my first session? Before your first session, please have the following completed ahead of time in your client portal: - All paperwork/forms - Upload a copy of your insurance card/information - Upload a copy of your method of payment (credit/debit card or HSA card) *I do not accept cash at this time* - Check with your insurance company to see what you will be expected to pay for outpatient mental health services. You can get this information by calling the customer service number on the back of your card. This is your responsibility and once a session is billed under insurance, I am unable to switch to out-of-pocket fees due to my contract with each insurance.
-
Do you accept insurance?I do accept several insurances currently: Wellmark/BCBS, Optum/UHC, Evernorth (formerly Cigna), and Midland's Choice. It is your responsibility to make sure I am in-network with your plan prior to our first session. Your insurance plan will also provide you with information about a copay, if one applies. If you have a high deductible plan with no copay, I also offer out-of-pocket rates that are often more affordable, but do not apply toward your deductible. Please reach out to me with any specific questions. *All payments are due at the time of service. You may pay using credit/debit card or HSA card. I am currently unable to accept cash payments.*
-
What insurance do you accept?I accept the following insurance — Blue Cross/Blue Shield Wellmark Optum (United Healthcare, UMR, UBH) Midland’s Choice Evernorth (formerly Cigna) It is your responsibility to see if I am in-network with your insurance carrier prior to making an appointment. If you have a high deductible/no copay plan, you can consider using my out-of-pocket rates which are often more affordable but do not apply toward your insurance deductible. *Payments are always due at the time of service.
-
What are your out-of-pocket rates? If you do not have insurance or wish to pay out-of-pocket, the initial intake session is $120 and all further sessions are $100 each. Payments are always due at the time of service. You may use a credit or debit card.
-
What is your no-show policy?Due to the growing demand and need for mental health services, every session time is valuable. Clients are therefore required to provide a minimum of 24-hour notice if they are not able to attend a session. Thriving Therapy, LLC reserves the right to charge a fee of $70 if a client misses a session and does not give prior notice. The first offense will result in verbal and written a warning. The second offense will result in a fee and removal from a recurring spot on the schedule (if applicable). The third offense will result in a fee and termination of the therapeutic relationship.
